[:en] Under the title “Postgraduate Studies”, Heliopolis University Alumni Unit organized a workshop in Business and Economics building on August 28. The first session was presented by Yassin Al-Sharif, a former Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Engineering, about how to apply to postgraduate programs in foreign universities. He explained how to start by searching for the most suitable university that offers the specialized program the applicant seeks to join with affordable tuition fees. Applicants then should check the admission requirements, fill up an application and pass the admission tests. Then, a bank account should be opened and all procedures related to the embassy should be completed beside the military service for males. Al-Sharif also elaborated on the funding issue and how to find funding entities. The second session dealt with postgraduate studies in Germany in terms of opportunities and challenges. It was facilitated by two Teaching Assistants at Heliopolis University, Mohammed Anwar and Omar Al-Dahan. Anwar emphasized the importance of participating in scientific events and seeking opportunities to continue studying after college. He also provided some details about funding entities and how to lead a smooth fruitful life in Germany. Al-Dahan confirmed that studying abroad would be different and applicants should be ready by improving their skills of critical thinking, self-learning, and conscious reading. He also provided some details about the possibility of distance learning and getting full or partial scholarships. The third session discussed postgraduate studies in Egypt and it was presented by Mohammed Reda, Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Engineering. As he is about to discuss his master’s degree at Ain Shams University, he presented some tips and suggestions regarding postgraduate studies in Egyptian public universities.[:ar] تحت عنوان “الدراسات العليا” نظمت وحدة الخريجين بجامعة هليوبوليس ورشة عمل امتدت من الساعة العاشرة صباحاً حتى الثانية مساءاً يوم ٢٨ بمبنى كلية إدارة الأعمال والاقتصاد. الجلسة الأولى قدمها الخريج يس الشريف حول طريقة التقديم للالتحاق ببرامج الدراسات العليا في الجامعات الأجنبية، عبر خطوات البحث عن الجامعة المناسبة والتخصص المناسب في إطار القدرة المادية المتاحة، ثم التعرف على متطلبات القبول وكتابة طلب الالتحاق ومواصلة الإجراءات المطلوبة لاستيفاء المطلوب بما في ذلك امتحانات اللغة وتسديد الرسوم وفتح حساب والإجراءات المتعلقة بسفارة بلد الجامعة. والإجراءات المتصلة بالأمن والخدمة العسكرية للذكور. وطرق البحث عن جهات مانحة قبل أو بعد الحصول على قبول. تناولت الجلسة الثانية الدراسة في ألمانيا من حيث الفرص والتحديات؛ قدمها كل من محمد أنور وعمر الدهان المدرسان المساعدان بالجامعة من واقع خبراتهما الدراسية. حيث أكد الأول على أهمية المشاركة في الفعاليات العلمية والسعي للبحث عن فرص لمواصلة التعليم، والبحث عن مصادر للتمويل ومعلومات لتيسير الحياة في الخارج. وتناول الثاني الطبيعة المختلفة للدراسة في الخارج وضرورة الاستعداد لها بتطوير مهارات التفكير النقدي والتعلم الذاتي والقراءة الجادة. وقدم معلومات حول إمكانية الدراسة عن بعد والحصول على منح دراسية جزئية أو كلية. الجلسة الثالثة حول الدراسات العليا محلياً، قدمها محمد رضا المعيد بكلية الهندسة بالجامعة الذي أوشك على مناقشة الماجستير بجامعة عين شمس، وقدم للحاضرين نصائح ومقترحات من واقع خبرته وخبرة زملائه في الجامعات الحكومية. وتم الرد على الأسئلة في الجلسات الثلاث مع إبداء الاستعداد الدائم للدعم من قبل وحدة الخريجين وحضر الورشة عدد من الخريجين وطلاب السنة النهائية. [:en]On July 31, Heliopolis University Alumni Unit organized a workshop for the university graduates and senior students which discussed the personal skills required for CV writing, business interviews, and freelancing jobs. The first session of the workshop dealt with CV writing and job interviews. Job Land team, composed of Rehab Alshahawi and Sara Talaat, explained in detail how to write a CV in a purposeful and accurate way that would encourage the recruitment staff to schedule an interview with the applicant. They also recommended that applicants attach a cover letter that specifically states their request and focus on the qualifications they have that at the same time meet the employer’s need. Another important issue is that applicants should not send the same CV to all employers. Rather, each CV should be tailored according to the employer’s business scope and the job type. In addition, for fresh graduates, they should highlight where they have graduated from (their university) and honestly and transparently mention its academic advantages. This makes the applicant a distinguished one. Also, applicants should list their interests, hobbies, initiatives, and voluntary activities in the CV as it positively defines the applicant’s personality. Through telling personal experiences, Job Land team explained the positive impact of continuous self- development and good business relationships which provides opportunities for employment and promotion. Through acting out an interview scene, the audience was able to distinguish between what should be done during an interview and what should not. At the end of their session, Job Land team asked the participants to write their CVs and send them to be reviewed. The second session of the workshop was presented by the professional freelancer Graphic Designer, Mohamed Gamal from Zagazig University. He explained what freelancing is, why we should start exploring it, the type of available jobs, freelancing websites, and detailed steps for personal branding. He also emphasized that we should investigate about the companies we work with before starting any job and how we can create an account to get paid for finished tasks. He stressed that freelancing jobs are available for all and anyone can improve his/her skills to be able to compete in the job market. Freelancing opportunities are always available, especially in startup companies which look for employees at reasonable wages no matter where they are. As a side event of the workshop, a fair for used books was organized. The fair sale returns were directed to charity activities.[:ar] نظمت وحدة خريجي جامعة هليوبوليس ورشة عمل للخريجين وطلاب السنة النهائية حول كتابة السيرة الذاتية ومقابلة العمل والعمل الحر عبر الإنترنت (Freelancing) وذلك في الحادي والثلاثين من يوليو الماضي. تناول الجزء الأول من ورشة العمل موضوعي كتابة السيرة الذاتية ومقابلات العمل. حيث قدم فريق Job Land  المتخصص والمكون من رحاب الشهاوي وسارة طلعت شرحا تفصيلا لكيفية الكتابة الهادفة والدقيقة التي تعطي انطباعاً جيدا ًعن المتقدم لطلب الوظيفة وتثير اهتمام مسؤول التوظيف أو صاحب العمل وتشجعه على القراءة وتحديد موعد للمقابلة. فعلى سبيل المثال، لابد من إرفاق رسالة غلاف تحدد بتركيز شديد ما يريد طالب الوظيفة أن يقوله ويوفي في الوقت نفسه حاجة صاحب العمل. ومن النقاط المهمة الأخرى ألا تكون هناك سيرة ذاتية واحدة تقدم للجميع، بل تصاغ كل سيرة ذاتية وفقا لجهة العمل ونوع الوظيفة حيث تتغير الأولويات. ونقطة أخرى مهمة ولاسيما لحديثي التخرج هي الاعتزاز بالجامعة أو الجهة المتخرج منها وعرض مميزاتها بصدق وشفافية حتى يعطي ثقل للتكوين والمؤهل، وهذا على جانب إبراز الاهتمامات والهوايات والأعمال التطوعية والمبادرات لأنها تنعكس على الشخصية وتضيف إليها إيجابياً. ومن خلال تجارب شخصية تم شرح قوة تأثير التنمية المستمرة للذات واتساع شبكة العلاقات الاجتماعية على اتاحة فرص التوظيف والترقي. وعبر مشهد تمثيلي لمقابلة عمل شارك الحضور في التمييز بين الممارسات الصحيحة والممارسات الخاطئة التي ينبغي تجنبها في مقابلة العمل. وفي الختام طلب فريق Job Land من المشاركين كتابة سيرهم الذاتية وإرسالها لمراجعتها. أما الجزء الثاني من ورشة العمل فقدمه مصمم الجرافيك الحر المحترف محمد جمال من جامعة الزقازيق وشمل تعريف للعمل الحر عبر الإنترنت ومبرراته ومميزاته واستكشاف نوع الأعمال المتاحة والمواقع المضيفة وخطوات تفصيلية حول كيفية خلق سمة شخصية لك تميزك عن الآخرين والتسويق لها والتحري عن جهة العمل قبل التعاقد وطريقة فتح الاعتماد المالي لتلقي مقابل العمل. وأكد على أن مثل هذا العمل الحر متاح للجميع وبإمكان من لا يتمتع بمهارة محددة أن يتعلم ويطور نفسه ليدخل المنافسة في سوق هذا النوع من العمل لأن الفرص المتاحة ولاسيما من جانب الشركات الناشئة التي تبحث عن عمالة بأجور معقولة ولا يهم من أي مكان في العالم. وعلى هامش ورشة العمل تم تنظيم معرض للكتب المستعملة للبيع أو الاستعارة على أن يوجه العائد لصالح أعمال خيرية.
