[:en]Seven Graduation Projects Win Abouleish Fund Award[:ar]سبعة مشاريع تخرج لطلاب جامعة هليوبوليس تفوز بجائزة أبو العيش[:]

[:en] Seven out of 16 graduation projects won Abouleish Award, the graduation project fund for Heliopolis University students.  Five projects were by pharmacy students and two by Engineering. Aboueish Award is granted to individual Heliopolis University students or teams. It is entrepreneurial, prototype, and problem-solving competition-based fund. The main goal of the award is strengthening competitiveness among students to develop their technical and practical skills, supporting sustainable development through improving human resources and problem solving, and developing higher education to be based on innovation rather than indoctrination. The pharmacy winning projects discussed a number of significant subjects: Novel anti-diabetic compounds bearing Thiazolidinedione using computer software, by Omar Abdel Fattah. Evaluation of natural extracts of Quinoa seeds Extract as anti-obesity and anti-diabetic structures, by Mostafa Mohamed. Effect of various drugs on macrophages (white blood cells), by Hadeer Osama. Study of anti-fungal activity of drugs loaded in nanoparticles. Formulation of toothpaste from natural products, by Mina Osama The winning Engineering projects tackled two important topics within the fields of energy and mechatronic engineering. The first discussed using two new renewable energy resources that are the CSP (solar concentrated power panels) and natural energy source (biomass), which was proposed by Omar Gamal Elhariri. The other showcased a new method of controlling machines, which was presented by Bahgat Hafez. The selection process of winning projects is based on: The scope of the project that should be technically feasible with achievable deliverables on time. Project proposal should clearly address goal/ objective/ problem statement. Innovation and creativity are key elements for consideration. Fund is intended for material, equipment, manufacturing, and testing. Merit will be given to projects with community serving, ecofriendly, and sustainability dimensions [:ar]  فازت سبعة مشاريع تخرج من أصل ستة عشر بجائزة أبو العيش لدعم طلبة السنة النهائية بجامعة هليوبوليس للتنمية المستدامة. تم تقديم خمسة مشاريع من قبل طلاب كلية الصيدلة وإثنان من كلية الهندسة. تهدف الجائزة الي تقوية روح المنافسة بين طلاب الجامعة لتنمية مهاراتهم العملية والمهنية ، ودعم مبادئ التنمية المستدامة من خلال تنمية القدرات البشرية والقدرة علي حل المشكلات وتطوير التعليم الجامعي الذي يرتكز علي الإبداع بدلاً من الطرق التقليدية. ناقشت مشاريع التخرج الخاصة بكلية الصيدلة عدداً من الموضوعات الهامة: • المركبات المضادة للسكري التي تتكون من مادة الثيازوليدينيوون باستخدام برامج الكمبيوتر- الطالب عمر عبد الفتاح. • استخلاص مركبات طبيعية مضادة للسمنة والسكري من بذور الكينوا -الطالب مصطفي محمد. • تأثير الأدوية المختلفة علي خلايا الدم البيضاء – الطالبة هدير أسامة. • دراسة النشاط المضاد للفطريات في الأدوية التي تحتوي علي الجسيمات النانوية. • تصنيع معجون الأسنان من المنتجات الطبيعية – الطالب مينا أسامة. وعلي الصعيد الآخر، ناقشت مشاريع التخرج الخاصه بكلية الهندسة موضوعين مهمين في كلاً من مجالات الطاقة و هندسة الميكاترونكس. حيث تناول الموضوع الأول موردين جديدين للطاقة المتجددة وهما ألواح الطاقة الشمسية المركزة ومصدر الطاقة الطبيعية (الكتلة الحيوية) ، واقترح هذا الموضوع الطالب عمر جمال الحريري. وتناول الموضوع الثاني طريقة جديدة للسيطرة علي الماكينات، والتي قدمها الطالب بهجت حافظ. وتستند عمليه اختيار المشاريع الفائزة إلى ما يلي: • نطاق المشروع من الناحية التقنية مع الإنجازات التي يمكن تحقيقها في الوقت المحدد. • أن يتناول مقترح المشروع الهدف والمشكلة بشكل واضح. • ترتكز عملية الإختيار علي الابتكار والإبداع . • يخصص التمويل للمواد المستخدمة والمعدات وعملية التصنيع و اختبارات الكفاءة. • إعطاء الجدارة للمشاريع التي تخدم المجتمع والبيئة والأبعاد المختلفة للإستدامة. [:en] [wonderplugin_slider id=26]   Heliopolis University has always supported entrepreneurship as a vehicle to help individuals unfold their potential while creating value. To enhance this vision, the university encouraged its alumni and staff members to learn more about entrepreneurship concept, opportunities, and risks through joining educational programs. Two of Heliopolis University staff members, Hala Helal, Lecturer of Microbiology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Drug Technology and Mohammed Reda, Energy Engineering Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering have joined a 6-month program to earn the Euro-Mediterranean Entrepreneurship Diploma as part of an educational protocol between Heliopolis University and the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI). “The diploma changed my perspective about my engineering students’ projects. I started helping them develop these projects into small start-ups. I am glad I am stimulating the entrepreneurial mindset in them” says Mohammed Reda Helal and Reda spent one month in EMUNI in Slovenia where they met learners from all over the world and exchanged knowledge and experience. Also, they enjoyed the exceptional nature of Slovenia, which is extremely beautiful and diverse. “In fact, studying this diploma was an unforgettable experience for many reasons. First, connecting what I have learnt in pharmacy with the entrepreneurship has greatly contributed to my career development. Secondly, trying new teaching methods for example online learning and field visits created a highly interactive learning environment. I do strongly recommend this Diploma to all graduates to enhance their capacities to meet the market needs,” says Helal. [:en] Two of Heliopolis champions won advanced positions at the National Championship for Crossfit that was organized by the Egyptian Functional Fitness Federation (EF3) on May 3-4 in Cairo. Eyad Hossam, Heliopolis Business and Economics student, won the third place for competitors under 21. His sister Engy Hossam’s team (The Pharaohs), Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Heliopolis University alumni, also won the first place in the same Championship. In addition, Engy participated last February in the Crossfit Games Open Competition and won the title “3rd Fittest in Egypt”. Eyad has been practicing swimming since childhood as a member of Al Ahly Club, which qualified him to join the Egyptian National Team and participate in many Arab and international competitions, including the Arab Championship in Algeria in 2011 and won the first place and the Arab Championship in Dubai – United Arab Emirates in 2015 and won the first place as well. He also took part in the Singapore World Championship in 2015 and the World Swimming Cup of the same year in Hungary. Engy started rowing since she was ten years old. She was the first Egyptian rower to join London Olympics in 2012 for lightweight women’s double sculls. She participated in many national and international championships during the last few years. She won the gold medal at the African Championship five times and seven times at the Arab Championships. She also won the National Championship more than ten times. Last year, she won the first place in lightweight women’s single sculls at the National Rowing Championship of universities. Forty five public and private universities participated in this championship. These special skills and high level of fitness that both siblings gained over the years through their practice of swimming and rowing encouraged them to join crossfit competitions last year and so speedy become champions this year.[:ar]   حصل اثنان من أبطال جامعة هليوبوليس على مراكز متقدمة في بطولة الجمهورية للياقة البدنية (الكروس فيت) التي أقامها الاتحاد المصري للياقة البدنية (Egyptian Functional Fitness Federation – EF3) يومي ٣ و ٤ مايو الحالي في القاهرة. فقد حصل إياد حسام الطالب بالفرقة الثانية بكلية إدارة الأعمال والاقتصاد على المركز الثالث فردي على مستوى الجمهورية تحت ٢١ سنة كما حصل فريق شقيقته انجي حسام المعيدة حالياً بكلية الصيدلة وإحدى خريجات جامعة هليوبوليس بتفوق والذي شارك في نفس البطولة على المركز الأول (فريق الفراعنة).  بالإضافة إلى ذلك شاركت انجي في بطولة دولية مفتوحة للياقة البدنية (Crossfit Games Open ) في فبراير الماضي وحازت على لقب ثالث أكثر رياضية لائقة بدنياً في مصر (The 3rd Fittest in Egypt). إياد يمارس رياضة السباحة منذ الطفولة كأحد أعضاء فريق النادي الأهلي. مما أهله للانضمام إلى المنتخب المصري للسباحة في العديد من المسابقات العربية والدولية منها البطولة العربية بالجزائر لعام ٢٠١١ وحصل على المركز الأول والبطولة العربية بدبي – الإمارات المتحدة لعام ٢٠١٥ وحصل على المركز الأول أيضاَ. كما شارك في بطولة العالم بسنغافورة ٢٠١٥ وكأس العالم للسباحة في نفس العام الذي اقيم في المجر. أما انجي فتمارس رياضة التجديف منذ أكثر من عشر سنوات فهي أول لاعبة مصرية تتأهل للأولمبياد (لندن ٢٠١٢) في القارب الزوجي خفيف الوزن. شاركت في العديد من البطولات المحلية و الدولية خلال السنوات الأخيرة، حيث فازت بالميدالية الذهبية في البطولة الإفريقية خمس مرات و في البطولة العربية سبع مرات كما فازت ببطولة الجمهورية أكثر من عشر مرات .بالإضافة إلى فوزها العام الماضي ببطولة الجمهورية للجامعات في رياضة التجديف وحصلت على المركز الأول في سباق فردى مزدوج المجداف (سكيف طالبات) حيث شارك في البطولة ٤٥ جامعة حكومية وخاصة. هذه المهارة واللياقة العالية التي اكتسبها الشقيقان على مدار هذه السنوات من خلال ممارستهما لرياضتي السباحة والتجديف شجعهما على الانضمام إلى مسابقات اللياقة البدنية (الكروس فيت) العام الماضي فقط وسرعان ما تفوقوا فيها وحصلوا هذا العام على هذه المراكز المتقدمة والبطولات. [:en] The regular meeting of the Community Service and Environmental Development Committee was held with the representatives of the various societal parties on Tuesday 12 February 2019 to discuss some issues related to community participation. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Hisham Khalifa, Chair of Technical Support Committee and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Halim, Chair of the Committee of Community Service and Environmental Development together with Bahaa Rashad, Business Development Manager for the Middle East and North Africa for SAGA, Dr. Khalid Nour El Din, General Manager of SAGA Egypt, Dr. Hind Al-Husseini, Director of the Egyptian Drug Information Center at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ahmed Hussein, Director of GMC in Egypt, Dr. Ali Abdel Ghani El Halbi – Advertising Manager, El Hikma Pharmaceutical Co, and Mohamed Shaarawy, Director of Public Relations at Rushdi Pharmacies. The meeting was part of the annual executive plan 2018-2019 of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Drug Technology as a means to explore the societal views and labor market organizations on the role of the Faculty and its services to the relevant community parties. The meeting was fruitful as everyone stressed the importance of the joint role between the faculty and the relevant social parties.     [:ar] تم عقد الاجتماع الدورى للجنة خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة مع ممثلى الاطراف المجتمعية من مخلتف التخصصات يوم الثلاثاء الموافق ١٢ فبراير ٢٠١٩ وذلك لمناقشة بعض الموضوعات المتعلقة بالمشاركة المجتمعية. وقد انعقد الاجتماع برئاسة كلا من أ.د. هشام خليفة – رئيس لجنة الدعم الفنى للكلية – وأ.د. أحمد عبد الحليم – رئيس لجنة خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة بالكلية وحضور د. بهاء رشاد – مدير تطوير الأعمال بالشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا لشركة ساجا و د. خالد نور الدين – المدير العام لشركة ساجا بمصرو د. هند الحسينــي – مدير مركز المعلومات الدوائية المصري بوزارة الصحة و د. أحمد حسين – مدير شركة جى ام سى بمصر و د. على عبد الغنى الهلبى – مدير الدعاية بشركة الحكمة فارما للأدوية و أ. محمد شعراوى – مدير العلاقات العامة بشركة صيدليات رشدى. وقد جاء هذا اللقاء تحقيقاً للخطة التنفيذية السنوية للكلية ٢٠١٨ – ٢٠١٩ حيث تعد اللقاءات أحد الوسائل المناسبة لقياس آراء المجتمع ومنظمات سوق العمل عن دور كليه الصيدلة و تكنولوجيا الدواء بجامعة هليوبوليس وخدماتها المقدمة الى الأطراف المجتمعية ذات الصلة . وقد كان اللقاء مثمراً حيث أكد الجميع على أهمية الدور المشترك بين الكلية والأطراف المجتمعية  ذات الصلة والتطلع الى مزيد من التعاون فى الفترة القادمة  بما يعود بالنفع على المجتمع.     [:]

[:en] Under the directive of the Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the campaign “100 Million Healthy Lives”, which runs from 23 December 2018 to 28 February 2019 to eradicate hepatitis C and stymie the growth of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. The campaign team was located on Heliopolis campus in the building of the Faculty of Pharmacy, from 23 December 2018 until 3 January 2019. The campaign team was represented by the Director of Health Affairs in Cairo, the Second Department of Medicine. The team conducted the following tests: Blood pressure, weight, height,  random blood sugar, and hepatitis C.[:ar] تنفيذاً لمبادرة رئيس الجمهورية حملة “١٠٠ مليون صحة” التي تستمر من ٢٣ ديسمبر ٢٠١٨ حتى ٢٨ فبراير ٢٠١٩ للقضاء على فيروس سى (Virus C) والكشف المبكر للأمراض الغير سارية ( سكر – ضغط – سمنة ). تواجد فريق الحملة في حرم جامعة هليوبوليس بكلية الصيدلة من ٢٣ ديسمبر ٢٠١٨ حتى ٣ يناير ٢٠١٩. حيث تواجد فريق الحملة ممثلاً في مديرة الشئون الصحية بالقاهرة إدارة السلام ثانى الطبية وتم توفير مكان مناسب للجنة داخل كلية الصيدلة. وقام الفريق بإجراء الفحوصات التالية: قياس ضغط الدم  قياس الوزن والطول تحليل سكر عشوائى  تحليل فيروس سى [:]

[:en] [wonderplugin_slider id=23]   The Faculty of Pharmacy  at Heliopolis University held its First Annual Conference on Sustainable Development in Pharmaceutical Sciences (HU-SDP) on December 22nd in the university campus in Cairo. The conference hosted a number of high-profile professors, researchers, and entrepreneurs. The conference started with welcoming speeches by Dr. Mohamed Yousri Hashem, Heliopolis University President and Dr. Gouda H. Kamel, Faculty of Pharmacy Dean. The speakers raised many critical national and international issues related to pharmacy legislations in Egypt, quality assurance in pharmacy, gene therapy, green chemistry and sustainability, education for sustainable development, and contract research. On the sidelines of the conference, two workshops were held for interested participants. The first was organized by HU Alumni Unit under the title “Self Learning” and was facilitated by D. Manal Emam, a Lecturer of Education Sociology. The other workshop “CV Writing” was presented by Nour Elmahdy. In addition, posters were presented by contributing researchers and students and were reviewed by the scientific committee members. The conference was concluded with a number of recommendations: Establishing urgently a communication channel with different parties in the field of pharmaceutical sciences to exchange knowledge and experience. Utilizing sustainable development in the field of pharmaceutical sciences will greatly contribute to the reduction of drug monopoly. Applying the concept of sustainable development in pharmaceutical industry as it has huge effect on reducing the treatment costs Holding the conference on annual basis to review the achievements and determine future requirements in pharmaceutical sciences and its applications. [:ar] [wonderplugin_slider id=23] اختتمت فعاليات المؤتمر الأول للتنمية المستدامة في العلوم الصيدلية الذي نظمته كلية الصيدلة بجامعة هليوبوليس للتنمية المستدامة برعاية وحضور الدكتور يسري هاشم، رئيس الجامعة. ترأس المؤتمر الأستاذ الدكتور جودة كامل عبد الباري هلال عميد الكلية والأستاذ الدكتور صلاح عبد الله وكيل الكلية كنائب رئيس المؤتمر. ضم المؤتمر عدداً من المتحدثين المتخصصين من باحثين وأساتذة ورواد أعمال في المجال الصيدلي. سلط المؤتمر الضوء على الجديد في العلوم الصيدلية وتمت مناقشة العديد من الموضوعات كالتشريعات المتعلقة بالصيادلة في مصر ومراقبة الجودة في المجال الصيدلي والعلاج الجيني و العلاجات ضد الشيخوخة والكيمياء الخضراء والاستدامة وغيرها. ضم المؤتمر ضمن أجندته ورش عمل لتطوير المهارات الفردية للطلبة حول التعلم الذاتي وكيفية كتابة السيرة الذاتية. كما تم تقديم ما يقرب من 30 ورقة بحثية قام بتقييمها عدد من الأساتذة الجامعيين الكبار. في ختام الجلسات أعلن الدكتور جودة هلال التوصيات التي أسفرت عنها تلك الجلسات، وتركزت في ضرورة التواصل مع الأطراف المختلفة بمجال العلوم الصيدلية لتبادل المعرفة والخبرات بما يحقق التقدم في مجال العلوم الصيدلية، وكذلك التنمية المستدامة في مجال العلوم الصيدلية تعتبر من أهم ركائز استحداث استخدامات جديدة للأدوية بما يساهم في الحد من الاحتكار. وتناولت التوصيات التركيز على تطبيق مفهوم التنمية المستدامة في مجال التصنيع الدوائي لما لها من تأثيرات فعالة في خفض التكلفة العلاجية وما يترتب عليه من توفير الأدوية لكافة فئات المجتمع، وأيضا ضرورة انعقاد هذا المؤتمر بشكل سنوي لدراسة ما تم وتحديد المتطلبات المستقبلية في مجال العلوم الصيدلية وتطبيقاتها. [:en] As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Drug Technology’s mission to serve the community and improve the environment, the Community Service and Environmental Development Committee with participation of a number of students and faculty members, granted a fund to Abu Al Reish Hospital. The fund was provided based on the hospital’s regular list of needs. Faculty of Pharmacy and Drug Technology participates in many activities in the field of community service such as blood donation campaigns, medicines and medical supplies as well as awareness campaigns on infectious diseases and the misuse of antibiotics.[:ar] ايماناً منا بدور الجامعة فى  تطوير المجتمع والنهوض به و كجزء من رسالة كلية الصيدلة وتكنولوجيا الدواء فى خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة ، قامت لجنة خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة بالكلية وبمشاركة عدد من الطلبة والمعيدين بالكلية بتقديم منحة إلي مستشفى أبو الريش الجامعي بالمنيرة من مستلزمات لوحدة الرعاية المركزة ووحدة المبتسرين. وقد تم تقديم المنحة بناءً علي قائمة احتياجات تقدمها المستشفي بصفة دورية . في هذا السياق تشارك كلية الصيدلة وتكنولوجيا الدواء في العديد من الأنشطة في مجال الخدمة المجتمعية مثل حملات التبرع بالدم و الأدوية والمستلزمات الطبية وكذلك حملات التوعية حول الأمراض المعدية والاستخدام الخاطيء للمضادات الحيوية. [:en] Heliopolis University Pharmacy student, Youssry Elsawy has been recently assigned the position of Corporate Relations Coordinator in the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF). Elsawy is the first Egyptian to hold this position, which will last for one year till September 2019. He will be in charge of finding and maintaining relations with the region’s partners and sponsors for all the regions’ activities and strategic plans. He will also be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date database of communication and contact information, updating the partnership proposals, and arranging meetings if needed. In 2017, Elsawy was selected to join the External Relations Committee of IPSF that is responsible for enhancing and promoting communication between IPSF and its strategic partners like the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) is a leading international advocacy organization for pharmacy students with the aim to promote improved public health. IPSF was founded in 1949 and now includes around 350,000 pharmacy students from 80 countries worldwide.[:ar] يسري الصاوي الطالب بالفرقة النهائية بكلية الصيدلة جامعة هليوبوليس تم اختياره مؤخراً كمنسق للعلاقات المؤسسية بالمكتب الإقليمي للشرق الأوسط للاتحاد العالمي لطلاب الصيدلة (IPSF). الصاوي هو أول مصري يتم اختياره لهذه المهمة والتي ستستمر حتى سبتمبر ٢٠١٩. وسيكون مسؤولاً عن الحفاظ على العلاقات مع شركاء المنطقة ورعاتها فيما يخص جميع الأنشطة والخطط الاستراتيجية المشتركة. كما سيكون مسؤولاً عن الاحتفاظ بقاعدة بيانات يتم تحديثها بصورة مستمرة تضم بيانات الاتصال لجميع الشركاء ومقترحات الشراكة المقدمة وسيتولى تنظيم الاجتماعات إذا لزم الأمر. والجدير بالذكر أن الصاوي عضو أيضاً في الاتحاد المصري لطلبة الصيدلة (EPSF) منذ حوالي ثلاث سنوات. وقد شارك في العديد من أنشطة وفعاليات الاتحاد وتم اختياره كمنسق للفعاليات. وفي عام ٢٠١٧ تم اختياره للانضمام إلى لجنة العلاقات الخارجية في منظمة IPSF والمخول لها تعزيز وتنمية التواصل بين المنظمة وشركائها الإستراتيجيين. يعد الاتحاد العالمي لطلاب الصيدلة (IPSF) إحدى المنظمات الدولية الرائدة في مجال دعم ومساندة طلاب الصيدلة حول العالم بهدف تعزيز وتحسين الصحة العامة للشعوب في جميع أركان الأرض. تأسست المنظمة في عام ١٩٤٩ وتضم حالياً حوالي ٣٥٠٫٠٠٠ طالب صيدلي من ٨٠ دولة حول العالم. Weins who delivered a lecture about two critical issues: An Overview of Bioactivity-Based Analysis, Bridging the Gap between Cause and Effect – Detection of Bioactive Compounds in the Environment and in Food and the Use of High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography to Identify Plant drugs and to differentiate Chemicals Races of Plants according to the European Pharmacopeia. Dr. Christel L. Weins is a Lecturer at DEKRA ets – Saarbrücken Academy in the field of quality management of food supplements sector. She was a researcher in the area of water chemistry and environmental toxicology and Director of Quality Management at Across Barriers GmbH. [:ar] خلال زيارتها لجامعة هليويبوليس قامت خبيرة ضمان الجودة الدولية د. كريستل واينس بالقاء محاضرة ناقشت فيها موضوعين هامين أولهما نظرة عامة على التحليل القائم على النشاط الحيوي ، سد الفجوة بين السبب والتأثير – اكتشاف المركبات النشطة بيولوجيا في البيئة والغذاء و استخدام الكروماتوغرافيا طبقة رقيقة عالية الأداء لتحديد الأدوية النباتية والتمييز بين أجناس النباتات الكيميائية طبقاً للدستور الأوروبي.  الدكتور كريستل إل. وينز محاضر في أكاديمية ديركا – ساربروكن في مجال إدارة الجودة في قطاع المكملات الغذائية. كانت باحثة في مجال كيمياء المياه والسموم البيئية ومدير إدارة الجودة في شركة Across Barriers GmbH.   [:]

[:en] Palliative care is a rapidly expanding specialty that aims at symptom control and improvement of the quality of life for patients with progressive diseases. Although there has been enormous expansion of hospital palliative care programs, only a few hospitals have palliative care teams. In addition, workforce shortages combined with tenuous funding may limit the spread and sustainability of existing programs. In their graduation project, a group of Pharmacy senior students describe symptom burden and functional dependencies in oncology patients using M.D. Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI) Core Items and EORTC palliative care questionnaire. Their cross-sectional observational study aims at evaluating the presence of metastases and assess symptoms burden of cancer patients at Ain Shams University hospitals. We found that palliative care programs are not common in Egypt, especially for cancer patients. This is mainly due to lack of awareness and limited budgets. says Kareem Mamdouh, one of the project team members. The study shows that the major symptom that reveals is toxicity of chemotherapy course because of their severity and interference with the cancer patients’ quality of life. These toxicities include fatigue, appetite loss, pain, nausea and vomiting, insomnia, dyspnea and constipation. Pain is the most incident symptom reported by cancer patients with frequency 205 patients (80.7 %), fatigue is reported by 148 patients (58.2%), and insomnia is reported by about 144 patients (57.08%). Additionally, more than half of the patients reported constipation and appetite loss by frequency 170 patients (66.9%) and 133 patients (52.3%) respectively. All cancer patients need palliative care with different levels to control chemotherapy toxicities. Pain, insomnia, and fatigue are the most prevalent symptoms regardless of patient’s sex, age, or socioeconomic level. The project team consists of Kareem Mamdouh, Mahmoud Sayed, Aya Hamdy, Samer Sameh, and Abdelfattah Mohamed under supervision of Dr. Manal Hamed, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice.[:ar] تعد الرعاية التلطيفية (الترفيهية) أحد مجالات الرعاية الطبية التي ازداد انتشارها في السنوات الأخيرة وتهدف إلى التحكم في أعراض المرض التي تصيب المرضى الذين يعانون من الأمراض المزمنة أو الذين يقتربون من نهاية الحياة وإلى تحسين أحوالهم المعيشية. وعلى الرغم من التوسع الهائل في برامج الرعاية التلطيفية ، إلا أن عددًا قليلاً فقط من المستشفيات لديها فرق رعاية تلطيفية. بالإضافة إلى ذلك ، قد يحدّ النقص في القوى العاملة مع التمويل الضعيف من توسع البرامج القائمة حالياً واستدامتها. ناقشت مجموعة من طلبة كلية الصيدلة عبء الأعراض والاعتمادية الوظيفية عند مرضى الأورام وقاموا باستخدام عناصر أساسية من  M. D. Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI)و استبيان الرعاية التلطيفية لـ EORTC. وتهدف دراستهم القائمة على الملاحظة الشاملة إلى تقييم انتشار المرض داخل الجسم وأعباء اعراضه لدى مرضى السرطان في مستشفيات جامعة عين شمس. يقول كريم ممدوح أحد أعضاء فريق المشروع “وجدنا أن برامج الرعاية التلطيفية ليست شائعة في مصر خاصة لمرضى السرطان. ويرجع ذلك بشكل رئيسي إلى نقص الوعي والميزانيات المحدودة.” أظهرت الدراسة أن الأعراض الرئيسية التي تظهر على المرضى هي السمية التي يسببها العلاج الكيميائي بسبب شدتها وتأثيرها المباشر على حياة مرضى السرطان. وتشمل هذه الأعراض الإعياء وفقدان الشهية والألم والغثيان والقيء والأرق وضيق التنفس والإمساك. الألم الجسدي هو أكثر الأعراض التي يعاني منها مرضى السرطان بمعدل ٢٠٥ مريض (٨٠٫٧ ٪) والإجهاد بمعدل ١٤٨ مريض (٥٨٫٢ ٪) والأرق بمعدل ١٤٤ (٥٧٫٠٨ ٪). بالإضافة إلى ذلك ، يعاني أكثر من نصف المرضى من الإمساك وفقدان الشهية بمعدل ١٧٠ مريض (٦٦٫٩ ٪) و ١٣٣ مريض (٥٢٫٣ ٪) على التوالي. يحتاج جميع مرضى السرطان إلى رعاية تلطيفية بمستويات مختلفة للتحكم في سمية العلاج الكيميائي. الألم والأرق والتعب هي الأعراض الأكثر انتشارًا بغض النظر عن جنس المريض أو عمره أو المستوى الاجتماعي والاقتصادي. يتألف فريق المشروع من كريم ممدوح ومحمود سيد وآية حمدي وسامر سامح وعبد الفتاح محمد تحت إشراف الدكتورة منال حامد أستاذ الصيدلة الاكلينيكية ورئيس قسم الصيدلة الاكلينيكية والممارسة الصيدلانية.
