SEKEM, in partnership with Heliopolis University, works to inspire growth, wellbeing, and social transformation.
Carbon Footprint Center
Over the past few years, interest in global warming and climate change has grown exponentially & people now realize that it is time to act. Heliopolis University aims to expand and incorporate the concepts and principles of sustainable development in the educational, research and service fields, thus establishing the Carbon Footprint Center-CFC, to meet environmental challenges and to help mitigate climate change.
Out of commitment to fulfilling Egypt’s Vision for 2030, SEKEM Vision & UN Sustainable Development goals, CFC provides 360 environmental services for organizations eager to take part in environmental actions.
CFC is the only accredited organization in Egypt according to ISO 14064-1:2018 at the organization level as well as ISO 14064-2:2019 at the project level.
These certifications validate our expertise in the quantification, monitoring, and reporting of greenhouse gas emission reduction or removal enhancement standards. This recognition ensures that the data and offsets we provide are accurate, reliable, and globally recognized.
Vision
To be at the forefront of innovative methodologies, research, and sustainable practices that contribute to a measurable reduction in carbon impact, fostering a global commitment to a healthier and more sustainable future.
Mission
To combat climate change by pioneering innovative solutions and fostering a sustainable future.
To develop & enhance our Economy of Love carbon credits scheme to serve as a powerful tool, thus enabling businesses to offset their emissions while also supporting impactful projects that enhance environmental & societal sustainability.

5. Neutralization
If you can’t avoid it, offset it!
We absolutely understand that there are parts in any production process that will still cause negative environmental impact, ones that organizations can’t avoid.
That’s why CFC recommends ways by which you can offset any undesired impact caused by your operation.
How? CFC gained experience in the IPCC principle and Guidelines, CDM Methodologies, and Cool Farm Tool for estimating the amount of carbon reduction in these pillars:
- Soil carbon sequestration
- Afforestation/Reforestation
- Waste management and composting
- Fuel switching and renewable energy
- Biodiversity: quantitative scoring of whole farm management.
- Water: crop irrigation requirements, blue and green water footprints.
