Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development (HU) has announced an important update to its Waste Disposal – Landfill Policy, reinforcing its dedication to sustainable waste management and environmental responsibility across campus.
The revised policy, led by the Rural Development Center, sets clear procedures for the segregation, collection, and disposal of waste, ensuring that all university operations comply with national regulations and align with HU’s vision of a greener, more sustainable future.
Key updates to the policy include:
- Comprehensive Waste Segregation: All waste generated on campus must be properly sorted into general waste, recyclables, and hazardous waste, ensuring effective resource recovery and safe disposal.
- Responsible Landfill Use: Waste is to be transported only to licensed and regulated landfill sites, minimizing environmental impact and promoting compliance with environmental standards.
- Enhanced Recycling Efforts: A stronger recycling program is being implemented to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills and to foster a culture of reuse and recycling.
- Shared Responsibility: The policy outlines the roles of university management, facilities staff, departments, students, and contractors in maintaining a clean and sustainable campus.
This update is part of HU’s ongoing commitment to integrating sustainability into every level of its operations—from waste management and energy efficiency to ethical sourcing and community engagement.
