Cairo, Egypt – Heliopolis University announced a new policy to ensure all future renovations and new constructions align with rigorous energy efficiency standards. This initiative is part of the university’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, aligning with Egypt’s broader goals for sustainable development.

The policy mandates that all building projects, whether new or renovation work, meet specific criteria aimed at reducing energy consumption, improving indoor environmental quality, and utilizing renewable energy sources. Key elements of the policy include:

Energy-Efficient Design: All new structures must incorporate eco-friendly materials, energy-saving lighting, and HVAC systems that meet or exceed current energy efficiency benchmarks.
Renewable Energy Integration: Where feasible, solar panels and other renewable energy sources will be installed to power new buildings.
Water Conservation: All projects are required to use water-efficient fixtures and practices to minimize waste and reduce the campus’s water footprint.
Green Building Certifications: The university aims for each building to meet international green building standards, such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), to ensure best practices are met.

The policy will be monitored by the university’s newly established Sustainable Development Committee, which will oversee compliance with these standards, audit energy performance, and implement feedback systems to improve ongoing energy efficiency measures.
